Every racial group has dealt with slavery at one point or another in history. Both having slaves, and being slaves themselves.
American Slaves were black. And early on European-Americans kidnapped Native Americans into forced servitude. The reason most people don't know about this is because they gave it up rather early, due to a high death rate caused by disease.
