It's neither. I come on here to diss n00bs, speak to the most intelligible beings on the forums and sometimes use the forum as a filler of time.

True that suggestions will probably never be applied but faldon beeing a dead-end game not soo true its only crap 1/2 the time the rest of the time it is ok
Personally I do not much fancy the idea of a level cap. It's too artificial and restrictive. I'd rather make the xp formula, and monster spawns such that getting beyond a certain level is very hard... so that for example if you would translate amount of time spent leveling and level reached this client.
currently = new system
lvl 100 = lvl 110
lvl 200 = lvl 160
lvl 300 = lvl 190
lvl 400 = lvl 210
lvl 500 = lvl 220
Something like that, so it keeps getting harder and harder to lvl on. It is still possible to get a small edge over others with hard work, but it wont be as rediculously linear as right now. As a small counter to this effect, damage would be changed so that 3-hit rule is no longer applicable when similar levels are dueling, and as such the 'first person to hit wins' principle that seems to govern some warrior dueling atm (though its not quite to the same degree as it was before) would exist no longer.
Ah well, lots of ideas for balancing, but such big changes are unlikely to ever happen without a wipe first so it wont happen soon.

I like crovax's idea, it would mean that it would be very hard to create a ridiculously powerful character, there would be less of an inbalance between players.
Skillful tatics would be awarded in duels rather than ridiculous amounts of time spent on the game leveling. More of a equal playing feild for those players who have busy lives and can't dedicate their entire life to faldon.
Yea, but lvl cap would achieve something like that as well. The idea is, that it is still possible to gain an advantage over other players. But just like in real life, it does not increase anywhere close to linearly.
A sportsman who trains 60 hours a week is not gonna run the 100 meter sprint in 2/3 of the time of someone who trains 40 a week. Moreover, the 2nd athlete might actually win if he has more of a 'talent' (read: PKing skill/tactics) than the hard training one. Well, something like that was my idea. The only way it will really work though, is in conjunction with spawns that limit levels achievable reasonably. Last client hardly anyone was over lvl 200 for a long time... then new wyrms came, were massively used and lvl 300 became the new unwritten lvl cap (sorta) (though prolly if last client had been allowed to run its course as long as this one has, ppl wouldve gone way beyond that eventually)
Also dueling would hopefully be more interesting with lower damage. Imagine spending like more than 5 seconds fighting another warrior before dying, lol... that allows for a lot more long-stretched tactics and make food more important too, whereas now all that really matters is having enough dmg to apply 3-hit rule, something to stop critical hits, decent ar weapon and stepping-skill.
Ah well, as I said before... better not get too far ahead of ourselves.
Crov and I have had discussions of this nature many many times.
Basically, i'm in favor of a system with a harder levelling curve, and revamping almost all combat/stats. A level cap wouldn't serve a whole lot of purpose, though.
Wouldnt it be just as simple to let people lvl higher but make the gains less~
I mean if someone is lvl 200 and the top lvl in game is 200 then they are effectively the strongest....if someone is 500 and the top is 500 then same deal.
It all needs balancing anyways.
I dont think the problem is with lvling anyways...i think it is more to do with the game only rewarding lvling and not much else.
