Topic: Greetings from the US

Yo, this is Crovax (duh)

As you might have noticed if you are overly active on Faldon (not a healthy thing I might add) I have not been on too much lately. As you might also have noticed if you saw me on or read my site, it was because for the past 5-6 days I have been on vacation to the US.

I just figured Id have a post to tell everyone Im still alive and about the stuff that I saw or w/e.

Firstly, I try to update resets daily, with my faldon folder on my mp3 player's HD to access Faldon on any comp (yay). I didnt always manage, but usually I updated once every 2 days so far. So keep buying from me ;-)

Now my vacation thus far:

I first flew to Jersey, where I met up with some of my family and stayed over at my uncle's place who has likme a $1 mill house, with a pool and everything. Since it was so insanely hot in Jersey over the weekend I spent a lot of time in that pool, heh. Great stuff.

Yesterday I flew to Niagara Falls, had a look on the US side, did all the standard things such as watch from the platform, the cave of the winds where you can touch a fall and took a trip on the maid of the mist. (Got pretty wet, especiallly in the cave of the winds on the hurricane deck)

Then I went to the Canadian side and had a look there too, saw the huge power plant (since they funnel like 50% of the water away from the falls to generate power), saw the origins of the falls (kinda) (where it started eating away at rock llayers after the tectonic plate-thingies shifted creating the great lakes and stuff) and went BEHIND the horseshoe falls (Canadian part of Niagara Falls) and went on their big tower to see the falls illumminated by lights at night. The view is better on the Canadian side, and they have developed the area surrounding it a lot better/more. It looks more natural on the US side though.

Today I have arrived in New Orleans and Im in the hotel now, havent done too muvh here yet, but Ill tell ya if I do anything interesting later.

c'yall later guys!

PS. Sry for typos, Im not used to the cramped keyboards on laptops.

PPS. Here's a picture: http://www.phys.uu.nl/~0473162/DSC00414.JPG

THose are the American Falls, the Canadian horsheshoe falls are actually much bigger and like 90% of the water goes over them rather than this one, but its harder to get a clear pic of it, due to the huge spray that is in front of it, so figured id post this one. My sis (Freyalise/Liin Sivi for those who might remember her, actually liked these falls better too)

Bye y'all[/url]

Re: Greetings from the US

I've been to Niagra Falls many times. Cool place. Did you walk on the wooden bridge type deal beside the waterfall?

It's the horseshoe falls people have gone over in barrels, lol.

Anyhow, I've been to Niagara many times... it's boring after a few days if you don't have a girl with you. wink

Re: Greetings from the US

Hehe, yes.. the wooden bridge you are talking about is the 'cave of the winds' I mentioned earlier. I did go on it. The bridge can actually be seen in that photo I made.

And well, nah.. I didnt have time to go in a barrel, and I do not think its legal to, haha... could be endangering the lives of ppl trying to rescue me. And yea... going over the American falls in a barrel rather than the Canadian Horsheshoe falls would be worthy of a Darwin award. :-P

Anywho, I stayed there not much longer than a day, since I bet the legal gambling age for the US is 21 rather than 18. Weird, just like alcohol. =P It really is too bad, cuz my uncle had just explained to me how he had turned $2000 into $78k ($88k at the highest point) one night at the blackjack table in Atlantic City.

Anywho, yesterday I spend much time resting and travelling. And I walked around through the French quarters of New Orleans. Interesting atmosphere, it was pretty hot but not in the humid unbearable way Jersey was, and there was like ppl playing music in the streets. There was also a parade of some sorts through the main street, but it didnt look all that interesting so I didnt stay there too long. Had a GREAT meal at 'Red Fish Grill' or sumat like that. Twas seafood obviously.

Anywho, Ill be going now, its morning. Gotta shower n stuff, tty'all later.

Ciao.

PS. I just looked it up, and indubitably IS a real word, so HAH at whoever said it wasnt.

You should Travel to the Magnolia Projects....

Re: Greetings from the US

Legal Gambling age in most states is 18, however a huge majority of Casinos serve alcohol directly to the tables (I think it's obvious why), therefore you have to be 21 to enter them.

Re: Greetings from the US

It's funny, gambling is illegal in the state of Louisiana, but as a guy (tour guide) told me, New Orleans has the best politicians money can buy... read that again, the best politicians, that money can buy. smile

So they have a casino, but officially what they do there is called 'GAMING' not 'GAMBLING' rofl... I have a sneaky suspicion gaming is just as addictive as gambling and can lose you just as much money too. :-p

Ah well, love y'all

Re: Greetings from the US

I think gaming specifically means that SOMEONE has to win, therefore you can do things like sports betting, horsetrack betting, card tables where you play against other players rather than the house, etc.

Just no slots or house advantage games.

12

Re: Greetings from the US

Haha, no way. They got 2 blocks of prime real estate for that casino, cost them $600 million to build that casino. Trust me, gaming means slot machines, roulette, blackjack, the works... tongue

That's where the politicians 4 hire come in obviously. smile

Re: Greetings from the US

Ehm... what do you base that statement on?

At any rate, Im back in the Netherlands now. Ive actually been in Houston for a bit on the airport, hehe... Texans with cowboy hats n shit (or mebbe just tourists, who knows, heh)

During my visit of 10 days I had my finger prints taken, a picture taken, was extensively searched (including patdowns n stuff) 5 times and had my bag opened up and searched several times as well. :-p Oh, and our suitcases were opened and searched. =p Ah well, lol.

Anywho, Im tired now so Ill go get some sleep.

You can live in Europe and justifiably hate the French too.  They're just as rude to Europeans as they are Americans. wink

Re: Greetings from the US

I don't dislike the French in general tongue

Just some of them...

and their cars... I don't like French cars... though they're still better than American cars, lol.

Hardly saw any European cars in the US though, with the exception of some luxury German cars. (BMW, Mercedes) So I guess some Americans consider European cars crap compared to American cars? Ah well... seems that only Japanese cars are sold a lot both in the US and Europe. :-) Thoughwe dont have much Luxury Japanese cars like the US has, no Infiniti here and hardly any Lexus.

Ah well, the French surprisingly have their good sides too.
