I've found that, with only a few exceptions (yourself included), the current playerbase seems to have a one-track mind in terms of pvp.  They know one way to kill, and that's it.  Faldon players of old were much more versatile and adaptable.  Being able to mold your fighting style to a specific instance is a very useful skill.  Time was, PVP was a skill based art; that is to say, it was FUN.  For that reason, the older players have been able to maintain a level of dominance over players well above their level.

Basically what i'm saying is that a level 400 Brimstone would beat a level 500 Greentea.

84

Re: How Long have you been playing Faldon?

The term Greentea would therefor be wrong cus' me and Matt played with loki and u guys in desert eh?...

85

Re: How Long have you been playing Faldon?

When I say "Greentea" I mean whoever always asks me to do stuff for them when i'm on my GM, using very broken English.

Re: How Long have you been playing Faldon?

Mumblee is so wrong. This client is NOTHING like last client.
The thing about players being more adaptable and versatile last client is utterly nonsensical. This only has a couple of ways to attack people effectively and you can't be more versatile if the options to being versatile are not there.

Re: How Long have you been playing Faldon?

That's funny, makaveli, because I never had any trouble maintaining my tactical superiority on this client.

There are subtle things which you (and though I use "you" in the general sense of the playerbase, your comments clearly include you specifically in said group) fail to take into account.

Yeah, during the whole client I've managed to maintain my tactical superiority as well. It has nothing to do with me being more versatile because I played last client though. It's because I know how to PK and I'm good at it. There are several players who know how to do it, and a bunch more who don't, irrespective of in which client they started. The reason why you have maintained your self proclaimed tactical superiority (of which I never noticed anything at all, not even last client) must be because you think logically and make use of the few options available in this client to PK, NOT because you played last client. Thank you.

Re: How Long have you been playing Faldon?

You've accomplished nothing with your argument.

All you did was state that there are avenues through which a player can gain an upperhand.

The concept I am pushing is that the "oldschool" players were  more attuned to the avenues in question and thus had ability that transcended simply char level, equipment, and skill levels.

The environment of previous clients forced you to acclimate yourself to smarter PVP, which is something that players do not lose over time, and do not necessarily gain in the current environment.  Thus, old players were more skillful than current players.

I must agree that players from back in the day are more skillful than current players. The unassailable fact of the matter is that nowadays' players are unskilled, selfish morons. However, you must not mistake consequence for cause. It was the client that provided (read: caused) versatility, not the player. The players simply used (consequence) those options for PVP (which were much more sumptuous back then). It is quite easy to say, and really nothing else but logical that players who play longer are (on average) better. It has nothing to do with the old client though but with experience.

Anyway, the good players from back then quit after realising that this client sucks ass. That's why the average Faldon player can't PK for shit unless they're high level + good items. Put anyone who's the same level as me and has the same items against me and I will not die. I'm not saying that I'll kill everyone (prolly 95% tho), but because of my experience I will not die, and it's not because I learned so much in the old client from those great versatile and adaptable players.

Ehm, CotN stll existed at that time, right? Im pretty sure Senate hadnt gotten the p-files yet by then...

So basically you're saying you were in Gamemasters of Faldon? (though actually I dont recall if such a guild even existed last client, Mumblee would probably know, but if I ask him he'll prolly say Marco could also mean he was in Gnomer... we all know where that's headed.)

On a sidenote, remember when you used to play at my place as a total newb, and when ppl said 'macro' you always thought they were saying your name. smile
