You should watch high tension and wolfcreek theyre pretty gory cool movies.
If you want goriness, I'd recommend Elfen Lied, it may be anime... but it's definitely got a nice unhealthy saturation with violence.

You were led to believe the movies watched/discussed are of such a low quality... how exactly? Violence can be quite a powerful expression of certain emotions, situations, failings etc. (whatever)
There are of course, as in most genres, cheap trashy uninteresting ones too. But I see no grounds based in this thread to suppose it should be valid for those in this same thread, much less to generalize over all those in it (which, truth be told, should include yourself).

yeah, your right about solely. But regardless, pointless blood and gore pisses me off. It ruins the movie, I think. Some movies use it well, like Shaun of The Dead, you completely don't expect it when david is torn apart, and it freaks you out. Used there very well, I think. But senseless slasher movies don't have the same apeal to me. Maybe I'm just weird, tho.

cabin fever was sorta fucked.
But when it comes to fucked up movies u cant go past the foreign films, they are so much more twisted and freaky. The american and english movies are to censortised they arent as freaky at all.
Even though saw was a really good movie, not freaky but really well done.
Same with all the quentin tarantino movies, hes a fucking awesome director. Pulp fiction, jacky brown, resivour dogs, natural born killers. All awesome movies. Kill bill 1 and 2 are decent as well.
Larry clark does a few good movies too, u guys seen a movie called "kids" its really well done.

After the "Five finger palm of death of ultime wrath" or whatever that gay ass move was in Kill Bill 2.....I sorta lost all respect for that movie.
Saw 1 and 2 where fresh horror movies.....they made people scared again.
Same as this movie about to (maybe it has in america) Hostel..the new quentin tarentino movie....I know people who dont want to see it because the previews scared the shit outta them too much.

I remember how scary the Nightmare on Elm Street and Chucky movies where....and when u watch them now they are more like comedy's lol.

saw wasnt scary in the traditional sense it was more disturbing and twisted than scary.
Quentin tarantino is a great director and writer no doubt, but the one thing that pisses me off about him is that he abuses the respect that comes with his name.
like the new hostel movie isnt actually directed by him its presented which means he does fuck all and he is just getting people who respect his work to go see something he didnt have a real part in in the first place.
The lazy fucker needs to make his own movie that is what will bring back some respect for the guy.

I must agree with Alex.. Saw 1 and 2 weren't really horror movies imo. However, they were both great movies. Though I must admit, I believe Saw 2 had a below par ending. Atleast they opened it up for a possibility of Saw 3

Maybe some slight unjustified stereotyping there and i dont really think someone_at_nothing literally meant "no-one" reads, but more likely was pointing out with a large increase in other media types books reading may be on the decline.
Other than that i would like to point out that if only people with high paid jobs could read how many people do you think would be on this forum because people are replying to messages so everyone registered "reads"(other than mophead) j/k
