Yep. You can make a Gold Plate with Goldsmithing if you get it high enough. The only thing different about the Gold Plate is that you won't be as weak to lightning as you would be with a Full Plate.

Also ment to ask at what level of goldsmithing you need to make gplate?

Transfer unfortunately the cost to get high enough to make your own armour....far outweights the cost of just buying the armour.
