Hate always having to post late because I only come back here every couple of weeks...
Going way back to like page 7 or 8 of this post, Ken03 cannot be your arch enemy, mumblee or Smoka, because he is definately mine. Period. It was an all out stealth/banish war that started it all on the desert. I hated him more than I used to hate you mumblee (you remember that?)
But actually, I wound up sending Ken some kind of assignment through ICQ and then it worked out we became neutral in the game... really messed up the guild wars because our individual hatred started it all, and then we wound up neutral...
Loki, i really wish you could dig up some pics when this shit used to be all purple (the church map). I think I was level 800 or so, which ya you had me doubled with 1600, but it was because I didnt find out about the Skels until it was too late (they gave like.... well... 1000000 experience? more? I dunno.....)
And while everyone mentions banish and firewall, I really miss Egate. Maybe its back, i dont know? I remember when someone created an Egate in the desert to the church... but you had to have the church files on the comp. Something like that. It was pretty fucky.
And, one question... was GM Immortal Deathmaster at one point, or was it just another GM hackjob by Deathmaster? I never could keep up... Maven, Deathmaster, and myself would always seem to have at least one GM account available to us... not that that would be the reason we had so much power... or could buy 3 guild halls...
Final words, I remember Zammbi. Many of you dont though. I guess the main reason I remember so many of the "behind the scenes" players was because I made that guild that one time to help the newbies (at the time). What was it? DSFBP? Somethin' society for better people? I dunno...
Mumblee has it right when he says way back you needed to learn different stuff, you couldnt kill with one method. Plus, their wasnt a huge level gap near the end of the desert map. You needed stupid experience after a point, and players stopped leveling and started killing. There were a lot of things that made the old client good, but I think the reason why we all had so much fun so many years ago was because there was a point to doing things, the small things, which Mumblee mentions all the time. You had to build lots of different stats to fight different people. You had to keep building a stronger character to help in guild wars or to help the weaker players in your guild. People fought in groups, large groups, and I dont think its like that too much anymore. Its mostly individual battles, and its simple magic or attack. Is beserk even a big deal for a warrior anymore? Or has it become a simple hold control and move game???
Good to see most of the oldies came back at the same time to see where its at. Its like we have this weird sixth-faldon-sense that tells us when someone posted....

I'm going to let you in on a secret.
You're an idiot.
I actually agree with you for once, fr33k, and I'm not being sarcastic.

You not agreeing with me all the time means you're one thing all the time.
Wrong, is what you are all the time. Thanks.
Wow! That is a long time
Woah, what a blast from the past. So many names i recognise from the old days. It's fantastic to see the old schoolers are still hanging around (if ever so briefly)
i must of been 8 (perhaps 9) when i first started playing, i'm now 20. The best time i have ever had online, bar none, was playing the old Faldon maps. Sure there was bugs and it was very amatuerish but looking back at it now, thats what made the game so fun. I may have a nostalgic view of the game and 11-12 years (give or take) is along time but certain things have remained with me. Even when it was shite, for example. We used to spend hours in the Faldon chat (patriculiarly during desert map) waiting for Zer to reboot the Server but even then, there was a good group of people who used to have a laugh.
I kind of wish i could go back, back to how it used to be, but i'm sure it wouldn't mirror my nostalgic view, especially as games are a hell of alot more sophisticated these days and i'm no longer 8-15 years old
Thanks to Roni for posting those old pics, kinda makes me wish i could have just one last go, for old times sake

Need to borrow the razors?
Get online and well mess around some sweets
Had I given you all this yet? Well, at any rate... if ppl are so fond of visual affirmation of their nostalgic memories, maybe this makes sum ppl happy:
Ha!
I remember some of the names here, and those screenshots on the geocities page are familiar as well. Hard to believe that was 7 years ago.
When did Faldon pre-alpha come out? Early '98?
- Regal Knight / Napoleon / Smokey / Erdrick
Digging this back up.. but its too awesome of a post to not dig up
In refernece to this, those screenshots on that geocities page -- the pre-alpha client or alpha or whatever the hell name it woudl have officially had, was the client right before the ones in teh screenshots; I would like to assume that the client run in that screenshot section was in VB, and when he switched to the desert map he switched to C++ or C# or something along those lines.. before that VB one, I have no clue what coding language he used...
