I have Windows Vista on my laptop and I can't log in either. My guess is Faldon doesnt support Windows Vista. Maybe Zer can shed some light on  this.

Windows Vista does and has worked with Faldon for at least a year.

Well, it sounds like a user rights issue to me.  Fireborn, are you trying to use a limited account or an admin?
And Tim, which kind of account did you use ?

Windows Vista is a pos imo... It treats me like I am a moron. Plus the UI is ugly as hell.. It doesn't have the O so sexy Windows Classic Template. Admin of course Speccy. Are you 100% positive Faldon works with Vista? Just because it loads for some systems doesn't mean its Vista Compatible. I have already recieved so many "unexpected errors" with programs on Vista. I swear to God I am switching to the lovely and greatly under rated, best Microsoft OS available... Windows ME... Anyways, when I attempt to load Faldon, it just completely dies.. Windowed mode and (god forbid) Full Screen. Worked perfectly before, and still works on my PC.

I hate you Mrs. Speaker Pelosi.. You are undoubtingly the problem with Windows Vista. Women shouldn't be allowed to hold positions such as Speaker of the House. I mean read into the title.. It is clearly a Man's position. The onbly nancy for me is Nancy Reagan..

I ALWAYS run as a standard user. Windows Vista runs Faldon just fine, I would say it's your computer. Maybe your computer doesn't run Vista, perhaps that is the problem. I have received zero "unexpected errors." I run Vista 64 with full DEP, if anyone should be having trouble, it's me.

Also, in what sense does it treat you like a moron? If you don't like pop-ups asking you if you are sure, then shut them off. I leave them on, it isn't about thinking YOU are a moron, it is about stopping programs from doing things they shouldn't be doing. Just because at this point it only stops you, doesn't mean other non-friendly programs wont try to do similar actions.

Lastly, Windows Vista DOES include the old Windows Theme.

I find it hard to believe it is a computer issue if it runs fine as admin but not limited.
As for Fireborn's problem, who knows.
I think the REAL problem is Vista.  Penguin power! lol

Tim, your version may have the Windows Classic Theme.. but this does not. It warns me everytime I try to manually set my Internet Protocol, everytime I try to view my registry... Hell if it would cook dinner I'd believe Bill Gates programmed my Mother into Vista. Which would suck because I'd have to stop looking up porn. I very much doubt it is my Laptop as it would make God hiself cry with it's awesomeness.. Plus some of my friends have experienced the same problems. They just don't have Faldon to try it out. Hell DAoC doesn't run on Vista either, but they admit to people having problems. Then again it could be a one time problem. However, I am done being a Bill Gate's groupy... Vista was the worst thing to happen to this Earth. It only proves that the Anti-Christ is on his way if he is not already here.. in the form of Bill Gates.

Re: Why.... can..i...not...log...in

shroomz, it sounds like a user rights issue, as Spectre said.

Check if you have write access to C:\Program Files\Illusory Studios\Faldon.
To do that, navigate to C:\Program Files\Illusory Studios in Windows Explorer, then right click Faldon, then click Properties, and lastly click the Permissions tab. Check if your account can write. [At least, that's how you'd check that on XP. I don't have Vista and don't plan to upgrade so I'm not sure if they've reorganized it...]

If not, and you can't edit the permissions, perhaps install another copy of it, but make sure when installing that you install using the account you want to play it on (don't agree to go to administrator permissions when you run setup... it may ask you about that).

Re: Why.... can..i...not...log...in

I had the same problem with WinXp and a user that did not have admin rights so it is not vista that is causing the problems it is the user is non admin.

Re: Why.... can..i...not...log...in

Vista runs Faldon fine. lol I have tried it on multiple computers running Vista. Which version of Vista do you have? It doesn't make sense for you not to have Windows Classic. All versions of Vista have it. Windows Classic is the only theme in fact given in the lowest version, Home Basic, I believe.

Re: Why.... can..i...not...log...in

Check permissions, and another possibility, run it in windowed mode and make sure there's no firewall question about 'allow an open port' or whatnot. The game opens a port on UDP which might cause issues, though the server doesn't send anything UDP anymore...
