Topic: Party Members

There should be a system where anyone who is in your party is displayed somewhere on the screen, perhaps the top right part of the screen with the names and health percentage of your party.
This way, you can check the status of your team in a war, and the same if you are with a levelling buddy.

Another suggestion to Zer while I can be bothered to post on this godforsaken board: STOP BEING GREEDY AND SPEND SOME OF YOUR FORTUNE ON ADVERTISEMENT! The amount of money he makes from addicted gamers is by far in excess of what it would cost to advertise the game on a few internet sites. Hell, look at it this way:
1) We get more people online - the game is much better when a large amount of people are online
2) It makes the economy much stronger and there is supply and demand for most items
3) In time there will be many more people to PK, or have wars/guild wars etc.
4) Most importantly for Zer, more people start playing seriously and invest in some C-time, repaying Zer the money he invested in advertising.

Even if the new client comes out in a year (which I very strongly doubt), there are still plenty of players who would like to see Faldon back alive again, where it's not suprising to see more than 50 people online smile

Thanks!

Re: Party Members

Well the first suggestion could be added in the new client, I would like to see better party options. All current C  money goes back into the server, connections and the such. There is no spare money. Plus I don't think faldon is in a great state to advertise it. There will sure be advertisement in the new client anyway. But since there is a long wait (about 2 years) for the new client there is going to be a semi large update in the works that should help things out.

Dont look down here, my message is up there.

A semi-large update for the current client that will improve gameplay/number of people online?
When you say Faldon isn't in a state to be advertised, I would disagree. Sure, it's not the most user-friendly game ever but I've been trying hard throughout the last 2 weeks or so to get new players going, and I've been largely successful - a couple of people who started a week ago are now level 105 and 150, so there aren't any real fundamental problems with new players, they just need a bit of a helping hand.
Now, to Zer. I somewhat doubt that Zer would bother to continue pouring his time and money into the connection/server for this (lets face it, dying) game. I would never ask him to put a large amount of money into advertising because even I myself believe that Zer's profits must be low (but not non-existent), but it would be a wise investment seeming as he would in time get the money back from people buying C-time.
I'm pleased to hear you've picked up on the lack of party options too, that will be a good feature for the new client.
Thanks for your time.

I think right there is half the problem.  Players shouldn't be able to advance so easily in a week.  That's what makes the game boring. :\

Well we could post more on some rpg sites, but after a few things are fixed and cleaned up.

Hmm.. in one way I see your point. It seems obscene that a new player can get to such a high level in such a small space of time but lets not forget what faldon consists of:
a) Player Killing (which sucks at the moment due to a lack of active players)
b) Levelling (to get better at PKing)

So you see, there is a problem with your statement because quite frankly, what else is there to do on Faldon aside from the odd quest and raising a few skills.

Obviously the best solutions to this problem are simple:

Spread the game through word of mouth, and via other RPG-related websites.
Fix the major problems that Zammbi has mentioned
Get more moderator volunteers to keep Faldon a cheat-free zone (Look into getting Moderators from different time-zones so there are no gaps for people to afk macro).

By the way I'm not being critical just to make you look bad, my intention is simply to bring this game back to life and make it fun to play again smile

I'll wait for Zammbi's go-ahead before I think about spreading the word about Faldon. Zammbi exactly what are you planning on fixing or cleaning up?

Re: Party Members

Well its zers thing so I'm not too sure. But what 'might' happen is that the teleporting bugs will be fixed, any zhacking from players or monsters will be fixed, better pathfinding- meaning able to go up stairs with the mouse and pathfinding for other players(wont see players walking though walls). Also a new login page, the new craft items added into the skills and better editor gui for us gms. And some other minor stuff.

Re: Party Members

You know, they all sound like pretty useful updates. Hopefully Zer can do them sooner rather than later.

Lol I think you can tell from his lack of activity on the forums and on the game that the updates will be a long time since Caff is the only GM who ever comes on for longer than ten minutes tongue

Re: Party Members

You would be lucky if zer ever read this post. Face it, faldon is a dying game and the GMs are not getting jack for working so hard on it. The way I see it, since zer dosent give a flying fuck about faldon, we might have to wait for the new client to have any majorly affective updates. Don't get me wrong, faldon gets nice updates due to the hard working Ms and Gms but that is not enough. They need zer's help and he dosent give a damn. If it remains this way im afraid that faldon will cease to exist. One last thought: The fact that some players are so mean and disrespectful to noobies is one of the reason faldon ceases to grow. Faldon is not getting as many new players as it is losing old ones.

Re: Party Members

Faldon Population started decreasing the moment they popped 40 Guards in Valour(the original starting town). This made PKing the funnest aspect of Faldon almost utterly die. Then they moved us to Midguard which is still not close to being as fun to PK in as Valour.

Don't even try to deny this fact. Ask any player who quit during this makeover why they quit.

Re: Party Members

We used to have duelz near Penwick(i think that was the npcs name) and all in front of the bank and side of the church; the only other PKing used to take place at spawns bc we or whoever was fighting over the spawns...

Re: Party Members

Midgaurd is perfectly fine for PKing in. All that's changed is that the people you fight are actually worth fighting since you need to be level 100+ to spawn in Midgaurd. I think you'll find most people left during the 'makeover' because they were sick of their opinions (which were often quite intelligent) being completely ignored and disregarded.
At the moment the reason why people are leaving is because of the distinct lack of moderation and the lack of action taken by whoever is in charge of making new moderators.
Faldon has potential to be a good game.. and the economy will obviously get better as new people start playing but GM's lack the motivation to work on Faldon (obviously not including Laktitu who has been completely changing the desert map).
GM's: do the work or officially resign and get someone who will actually do the work to take over.

Re: Party Members

The reason I stated was the reason that the players themselves were giving, including me. So unless you speak for the rest of the long gone Faldon Nation.. Which I am the official spokesperson of, this point is moot.

Midgaurd brought back SOME of the pking fun, but the town lacks quality... No offense to kief, and it strongly enhances the one bug that makes lamers lame.. The Spawn bug.

Another huge flaw with the town is TPing... I can't get to Midguard unless I am in a guild because the TP won’t even open to Valour.. It opens to my Spawn location. Dumbest idea ever. There is a reason they call it a town portal and it is one of the few things that has never been changed over the years. Why? You may ask... because it worked... The current GMs which I have had a torrid love affair with in the past lack reasoning and commonsense.

Re: Party Members

Hmm. I'm not too keen on advertising the current version. Z-hack needs to be fixed first, as does the low-end economy and a few other things. It'll probably have to wait until the new client is working nicely.

To fix Z-hack the client needs to supply some extra information with the maps to the server. The new client's map editor will do so, and I will be starting on it in the next two or three weeks, depending on how much free time I have. The 'jumping between Z levels' thing on monsters can be fixed with the same data.
