Topic: Making money (or maybe a question about the economy)

It seems to me that the most efficient way to make money is to kill things.  Smithing seems mostly useless for making things that arn't weapons (armor can't be sold to npcs, and doesn't go for very much when sold to PCs).  So you can make some money making weapons, but it's slow since you have to wait for the merchant's gold to increase.  NPCs having very little money is a problem with chopping wood as well.  Mining and chopping wood is even slower since you have to take into account the time it takes to collect resources and convert it into something that can be sold.  Making potions seems useless to make money as well, I just saw one guy offer 500k healing elixers for 10k gp.  That's 0.02 gp for each potion.   It takes quite awhile to make 100 healing elixers and it gets you TWO gold.  Goldsmithing is all around useless since NPCs and PCs arn't intersted in anything you can make (even gold ignots).

Killing baby dragons I get a couple gp every 10 seconds or so, plus pfeathers that I can sell for 1gp each to NPCs.

So am I missing something here?  Are any of the skills actually worth pursuing as money makers?

I'd say scribery is a skill which is worth raising, cause you can make a lot of money if you get your scribery to a decent level.
BUT scribery is very expansive, because you have to buy books to scribe, you need to get blanks, feathers and ink.
Blanks can be bought (50gp ea) or made with carpentry (125 lumber ea), ink can be made with carpentry (5 vials of venom and 1 vial of dragon blood) or bought from players for like 2-5 gp ea and feathers can be gathered by killing turkeys.
All in all scribery is a fun to raise, but it does require alot of time and gold.

Really, the current skilling system is no good for making money. It is mostly good for saving yourself money (making your own stuff). The only decent skill really is scribery. But that requires you to have quite a bit of money to make anything. If you want to make money, you really should just try to level. Leveling is the best way to do it. But, really, you don't even need much money. I have gone through the game with no problems living only on the money I made from leveling. The only real use for GP even is the fashion contests...

u need around 50k+ to start with with less then that i'll take ages couse u have to get ur own lumber and ink. to start with getting spell books is no problem but at lvl 4+ it'll be a real pain..

Once again lothar shows how much he knows.  He was a newb on his mortal, never had anything really.  Lol.  I need gold for several Reasons, it takes money to make money for one.  I need money to lvl,   i cant lvl without my wclaws and aegis; aegis and sai.  That costs  a fair amount of money.  I have a scribe thank god, ive made about 600k in this new year.  A Great way to make money Melchior is to ask people if they need favors done, such as, Raising skills for items or gp.  Or maybe lvl someone.  Ill pay you gold to do some odd jobs for me, just pm me if youre interested. Even scribes are losing gp because the players are cheap faggots who will offer no more than 2k for lvl 10 ebolt or clit, especially the dutch players, they think lvl 10 clit is worth like 5k and 4k feathers.

The best way is, probarbly, killing stuff but skills can be profitable at a low lvl. If you raise any skill (and all supporting skills) to an extremely high level it's possible to make decent money but it is a little time consuming.

Right now, LumberJacks are making the most money.  Lumberjack as many logs as possible and sell them to the scribes.  Also, Mining is a good way to make some cash,  I need all the ores I Can get my hands on gold ore, copper ore, silver ore, iron ore, I also need gems, and gemstones.
