Well Zer only does updates for a few weeks once a year so far.
Its mostly a hobby for him, so nothing serious. So this can cause a lot of problems.
Hes still working on the new client and new server. So maybe when he finishes his degree, may see more action. But for now the game is just sitting mostly idle.
The boards have been slowly dying along with the game. I have a bad feeling the end is nigh.
i dunno i still play i mean when theres more updates im like
OMGWTF I DIDNT KNOW RAWR!
Updates? When the hell did that happen?
Zer has been update crazy the past few days... He has an updated client that works great, updated server, he fixed spells, fixed a lot of old coding, fixed enchantments, tons of stuff.
Yes. Jimmy is doing a great job. I've never seen this many updates on faldon ever, and they've occurred within a matter of days.
Ah good. I may have to check it out.
The -best- versions of the game were the first 3... alpha (first church), beta(Church map again), and then the first version of the desert. After that things 'changed' a bit; people started moving on.. and we just don't have the old crowd we used to have.
The one thing this game still does have though, is open ended character building; and with all these "new mmo's" that keep coming out; its disheartening because yoru stuck with 1 play type per class.. unlike true Faldon ways; where you can just about do anything you put your mind to.
Only time will tell if the recent changes that will be happening when time allows gets alot of us back. Ironically; since I began playing this game -- its the -only- game I have ever gone to off and on over the last many many years. No other game out can claim that.. even old school Ultima Online (Which.. I am tempted to try out again)

I totally agree with the open-ended character development. Been playing WoW for a few years and it's really sad how limiting it is. Faldon and Uo were both great because they did not make you choose a "role" right off the bat and I wish some newer MMO's could follow this.
I played it before too. The game looks promising and I hope it will be updated soon. Keep us posted, thanks!
Yeah, there was a definite change in the way people played the game near the end of the initial desert map client, Loki, and I'm pretty sure it coincided with the release of Diablo II (everyone came back to Faldon and tried to play it as if it were D2).
You're also right about the intimacy of the game drawing people back to it. I don't remember the last time I interacted with the various other games of played in the last decade, but I still come check the Faldon boards with some regularity.
yea this is my third time playing again
With all the new ftp mmos im suprised anyone plays here anymore. Wonder what ever happened to oldfart
