Topic: To those trying to steal accounts

To those of you trying to steal GM accounts using lost password, be aware that I am recording IP addresses for all of these lost password requests, and I am sick of your shit.

Permanent bans for both the site and game, along with deletion of all of your characters and accounts will be in order. I suggest you quit while you're ahead.

Re: To those trying to steal accounts

There's no reason to let people play who only steal accounts and make life miserable for others. We've let it go too many times in the past where an exorcism was more in order.

Re: To those trying to steal accounts

Zer, you made one of the biggest hackers in the game, one of the highest level GM's. Its only fair Ra or any other hacker or attempted gm robbers become gms as well. Spy stole 10x what i've ever even owned. feel free to explain.

This might be a stupid idea. But instead of just putting ur log in info into the exclopida or how ever its spelled, why not put in log in info , password of the acount and password of player, then if anyone gets into ur e mail it would be your own falt as you just let that person log your acount.

Hmm. Right now, to get the e-mail address of an account, you have to log into the account (so they have to already know the login/password). To get a list of account names you have to have the account e-mail address. None of the information is public right now -- you have to have either the account e-mail or the account login info. Which new information should it use?

Re: To those trying to steal accounts

Fort Minor, given his past I too had my doubts about Spy. However, he has been an excellent GM.

One reason his previous actions didn't rule him out is that while he made hacks, he also reported the bugs that made them possible, allowing them to be fixed. In contrast many other fine folks exploit bugs they find for grief and profit. Spy's actions were more characteristic of someone interested in programming and reverse engineering than in crime.

Re: To those trying to steal accounts

I was thinking the last password you put in. to log the char.

I dint do it, It was Spy

Re: To those trying to steal accounts

What barbie's saying could be a temporary fix, before showing the email address have the player provide a character password first, it's somewhat nasty but would stop this from happening unless they actually have access to atleast one character.
Although I guess, if an old player comes back, forgot what email he used and forgot all passwords he'd be out of luck, but that's probably a rare case.

Re: To those trying to steal accounts

Hmm. What if someone else logs the character and changes the password?

I mention this because the people stealing the accounts already have to have the account login, so it's likely they can log into at least one character as well

Re: To those trying to steal accounts

people only no the login info. if they no the passwoed too thats because the owner of the acount has alowed them to log the char. so the owner will no that there is a risk of this happing. It should stop people sharing info and alowing others 2 log the acount. But info of acounts have been shared for years and the owner changes the password after. so with all 3 passwords only the owner should be able 2 log.

i no what im trying to say. but not sure if you understand me sad

Re: To those trying to steal accounts

Fort as i said in the other post, matter of fact let me reverse what you said to me on to you;
Fort why don't you get matts nuts out of your mouth? seeing as how youre being his woman because hes been giving you the items hes been stealing off of accounts, point blank period is that this type of behavior should not be tolerated, because it drives loyal people away, i wont just walk away because i am a stand up guy; and i've watched losers like you ruin this game for others since last client
As far as Spy, IMO Rick being gmed is one of the best things to happen in Faldon recently; he has done much and continues to do what he can to make the game more enjoyable as well as taking a stand against people being abusive (macroing, afk camping and being a dick in public chat) I think you really believe in your head that because what he did hes going to be gmed for it? If thats the case Senate from last client should have been for getting the player files, and Kral should have been for taking Wu and Coma's e-mail accounts because it only makes sense!  big_smile

In most cases they had access at some point in time, to say, level a character for some gold or whatever. If they actually have access to the characters then it's the account owners fault for letting them.

Re: To those trying to steal accounts

thats why i changed all my character passwords, but it didnt matter when they could find out the email address to my account that i didnt even know since ive had the account; but if this was the case with me, he would not have been able to steal the account.

Re: To those trying to steal accounts

i got a password retrieval email last night sent to my email, and i know i didnt retrieve my passwords last night so it was obvously someone trying to steal my char... probably matt or rob. just thought id let you know people are still trying to steal accounts

Re: To those trying to steal accounts

thats why im saying we need all 3 login passwords. As to many ppl know the first two login passes where they have lvled others peoples chars in the past.Having to put the charter password in aswell would make it much saver.
