Topic: Suggestion to solve the current imbalanced stat system.

If we look at the average high level warriors (not including the players on who are 700+ because lets face it, they have a lot of stats to waste after they ALL max out strength at 1500) stats usually look something like 1k+ strength between   280 to 420 con and 400+ stamina. Surely this is testament to how unbalanced the stat system really is, strength is overpowered in comparison to other stats. Duels between warriors are usually over in 2-6 seconds. In previous clients for example desert map defense made a real difference and permanently lowered physical hits against a player. Aside from this there was also the risk of missing a player. If a player had high agility (this has been replaced with constitution) he would have a better chance of hitting his opponent and his opponent would have a lesser chance of hitting him.  This lead to duels taking much longer and defense and agility  played a real part in player vs player duels. Also if we are to look at the effects of con it is almost possible to run permanently with beserk with only 420 constitution. As many warriors choose to stop using this stat at 420, this means players are not using the stat for its main purpose (regeneration.) Instead the stat looses its most useful function at 420. Defense, this is almost completely unused, players no longer value this stat because the benefit of it is useless in comparison to strength. Finally there is the imbalance between intellect and magic. Almost all mage's choose to power all of there stats into magic for excellent regeneration far more so than intellect, suggesting that magic is more powerful than intellect.  This leads me to conclude that the Faldon stat system is now imbalanced and the player emphasis on strength due to the stat being overpowered has in fact lead to extremely short duels which have less suspense and as a result they are less fun. 
Does anyone else notice these things?

Here is my suggestion to create a more balanced stat system.
Double the effect of both stamina and tactics, increasing the total time of duels.
Change constitution from 70 stats per regeneration point to 50 stats per regeneration points.
Return to the old defense system, allowing it to permanently lower the damage received from both monsters and players.
Double the effect of intellect and magery allowing intellect to play an equally important part in the creation of mage characters as magic. This will also compensate for any imbalance caused between mages and warriors by the doubling of health points.

Well it seems that suggestion has some popular support.  tongue However how do you envisage the game after if it has been wiped and started from scratch.
You have been around on faldon for a long time now Mumblee and even become a GM, but this is more of a destructive idea for Faldon than a positive suggestion. Please elaborate if you're not just joking.

As well as Con should be lowered, what about magic from 40 to 25.

People make the same argument every time - "Wiping will make everyone quit".  And some people do quit, some old players return, and in general everyone realizes that they enjoy the game a lot more when it hasn't been broken yet.  A wipe has never been a death sentence for Faldon, especially when it's being wiped for a good reason.

The argument against a wipe is not "everyone will quit", but that it destroys not only the illusion of any real accomplishment, but also invalidates your time, money, resources, etc. I won't live forever. I don't have a lot of time to play games. I've slowly built up a character over a number of years that I enjoy returning to occasionally and play. I keep my citizenship updated so I have that option. You can take that all away, this game isn't a democracy and I understand that, but I won't be returning and I won't be the only one. I'm not going to be retracing my footsteps on a game that was barely worth playing to begin with. It seems arrogant and out of touch that you would eve ask players to do that, but of course, some of the calls for a wipe are coming from people are not players to begin with, so why should they care? There's no disadvantage to that position. They have nothing to lose.

Get a new server so people can choose to play on a server thats clean or on an used one.

You misunderstood what i meant Mumblee, this topic is about a new stat system for faldon because of an inbalance to honest whether we wipe or not is COMPLETELY irrelavent. I'm not against the idea of a wipe. The reason i said that sounds like a destructive idea for the game is because i thought this

also implied deleting all the code and starting from scratch. I misunderstood too. A wipe would be a positive thing but it would be the same game with new players. This topic is about changing the stat system not if we should wipe or not.

Roachsta, you're right that a wipe itself wouldn't solve the issue - the game will still be unbalanced.  My argument is that you can't work on balance very well unless you have a blank slate because there are too many confounding variables in the current iteration of the game.

Monther, in my experience MMORPGs are more about the journey than the destination.  While you're right that people would lose some pretty impressively built characters, Faldon wasn't built to be able to keep engaging those high-end players.  I'd argue that there's not really anything left for the top 10% of Faldon characters.  Once the only thing that you have left to accomplish is accumulate meaningless levels, why even bother?

Your right, however the stat system certainly needs to be restructured at some point in time to make them balanced and to make certain stats (mainly defence) part of the game again.

Wait, when is the new client supposed to be released? I remember when it was rumored to be done in the fall..and it's March lol. I haven't played in awhile hoping for it to be done by now and its not. Just wondering.  tongue

lol everyone crys about the money there going to lose from investing into items, that is not the GMs fault, owners fault etc, they suggest not to do usd deals for items, they are not promoting it, they actaully prefer if nobody would do it, so stop crying about your lost money, its your own fucking fault, nobody elses.

+4-20 on vote for wipe! Wipe will make people quit....but honestly who cares.....People quit everyday, I don't kno how many people I've made quit....and ya kno wat....in a few months maybe a little longer....they all return,  So what if you have to start back over at level 1....with a new client, new skills, new stat system  things will be soo much better no one will give a fuck, they're going to play.....I've spent plenty of usd on this game.....usd I shouldn't have spent for fucking pixels, but dammit I don't care.  I kno the rules of the game, and if a wipe happens....i'm still gonna play....granted I'm still only gonna level to 420 and stop.  But maybe it will be more fun getting there smile 

P.S.  I'm glad the older GMs still roam the forums but never log the game smile   That's a perfect example that Faldon will never leave your soul! yikes

id start playing again if there was a wipe lol, it would add some oomph to the game, everybody would have that edge to be the best first, being skills or levels, theyll want to be something amazing haha, new stat system means that pvp will definately be a huge factor in the game, nobody will know the good combinations anymore and such ... pleaseee wipe the mother fucker, ive speant a fuckton on it too and i dont give a fuck lol
