Topic: Regarding Tareim

I told him about a bug in HP geg spawn with vampire, requested he fixed it, he came, ran around, ignored my say chat/broadcast, left and then he gave georgia a new pot he was making, she fucked up and told people in broadcast and "wanted it back", I then asked about the spawn again, he said he couldnt find a vampire to fix (what a gm eh) so i called him out on it saying you should of listened and you were in touched on pit, not vampire pit, he said its my own problem and that he is content, so instead of fixing a bug hes giving out non released items instead, real great priorities, so what do i get for this, kicked muted and banned, he shows his true colors all the time, like when hes talking shit about other gms when they aernt online, another thing hes famous for, or playing favorites by jailing me for no reason, but not jailing rastlin when he is afk camping, the guy is retarded and something needs to be done with him.

Re: Regarding Tareim

Kr0nic,

First of all had you come to me with any respect, things would have gone much better. You asked for help and immediately I warped to you. I was unable to find any vampires at the location my warp took me to. Because of this, I ran around, I looked to see if I could find what you were talking about. I was unable to find the problem, so I warped to a safe-zone (where I prefer to be). You immediately came at me:

Let me stop here. I did not say that I don't read say-chat in a rude way. I said it as a fact. I don't read say-chat and I make it a rule for myself to try not to (though yours I honestly did not see). Why do I do this? Because I am often AFK or scripting or otherwise engaged. By ignoring say-chat I avoid missing segments of conversation. I instead stick to Ts and B. This is to ensure that I do not miss what a player may feel is important.

Tareim wrote:

Okay... that makes sense.
It's not your problem that I don't read it.. when it's your text to be read. lol
Sounds like it is your problem.

This was my humorous response to you being rude for no reason. I was trying to explain something to you and you tell me it's not your problem. It is indeed your problem when you're looking for help. At this point, it would have suited you better to help me find the spawn so that I could help with the problem. This is when I told you I was content, meaning that I didn't have an issue, you did, and you wanted help:

Kr0nic wrote:

Tareim wrote:

No, I'm content, you?

Kr0nic wrote:

At this point you just started rambling belligerently and I issued a kick as a warning. You returned to add:

Kr0nic wrote:

This earned you yet another kick.

Kr0nic wrote:

you remind me of gay

This earned you yet another.

Kr0nic wrote:

Finally I realized that no conversation was going to happen and you needed time to cool off. So rather than have you continue to log character to spam chat in retaliation to... I don't know what... I issued a short ban. I did not want to do this, actually, I attempted to wait for you to log a few times so that I could mute you and talk to you in tells before it went too far. I was unable to do this.

Also, for the record, I have created a new potion, yes. But, Barbie Girl has yet to see one, ever. I issued one to Rastlin (it was his idea to create it) and one to a few others that were online at the time of creation. This was a public give-away and each player online was welcome to one. There were no exceptions and nobody left out. But, Barbie was not online and she has not received one to-date.

Re: Regarding Tareim

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention. Another false statement of yours was about me not jailing Rastlin. All three of his characters were put in jail for being AFK while farming with pets. You really need to get your facts straight.

5

Re: Regarding Tareim

they were teleported to the jail but not actually jailed, just making him lose his pets, he already said that in broadcast, while he said "oh well atleast i know how to pull my pets out of jail"

edit- he also said that he would of flipped if all his chars were jailed because only ONE of them were afk, that contradicts you again.

Re: Regarding Tareim

You are correct. I did not fully jail him, I have been going a little easy on people lately. This is because I believe the watcher to be handling most troubles pretty well. Also because I feel with such a small community it doesn't do much good for them all to be jailed. But see that means that you are talking about when I jailed you..4 months ago? The time frames are too wide to compare treatment. Many people were jailed in the time-frame you were. Also, Rastlin may state that only one of his characters were AFK, but the fact is he did not respond to b-chat and none of his characters acknowledged me in person; he didn't even respond shortly after being jailed. I think the evidence is pretty strong that all three were AFK.

I am sorry you disagree with the way that I handle things, but I assure you I treat everybody the same.

Re: Regarding Tareim

when you jailed me i wasn't even afk and there were less players, now you aernt jailing people for actually cheating, your logic is flawless. your such a faggot lol, watcher doesn't even jail you for afking with pets and afking skills so i guess that means it's a free for all again? everything you are saying is just making you look like an idiot.

Re: Regarding Tareim

As a GM, the manner in which a problem is presented to you shouldn't matter.  If a problem exists, it's your job to fix it, whether or not the player was "rude".  This has been one of the main problems with Faldon GMs over the years; they seem to take insult easily and then make biased decisions accordingly.

By no means is "insulting a GM" reason for retaliation in the form of kicks/bans.  That's like lesson number 1 in "Not Being a Corrupt GM 101", but I guess you didn't take that course.

So, while Kr0nic is definitely an asshole, he's right, given the descriptions of the interaction you both described.

The watcher is a fucking joke.  We all have reported a large number of problems with the watcher interfering with legitimate gameplay.  And as you so clearly stated, rather than do your job as a GM and jail people appropriately, you leave it up to the busted, broken attempt at a scripted mod.  As for most troubles....  no, the watcher handles "hardcore" afk levelling just fine, but that's about it.

Not responding to bchat or your in person messages is what will get you jailed?  Really?  You've said yourself you don't respond to s-chat messages, which would be those in person responses I assume.  You very rarely respond to b chat, and that's only if there's not much going on in b.  Since your faggot ass watcher implementation that you won't fix, all I ever do is skill anymore, and generally speaking I will have a minimum of 3 windows open (npc, bank, skilling window) while in my inventory.  I'm not gonna see a single one of your messages, so I guess I would get jailed for this?  And with my attitude, apparently banned when I mouth off about how fucked up it is that you jailed me.

As for treating everybody the same, I think it's very safe to say that not a single GM on this game treats everybody the same.  Not you, Julie, or Rick.  I'm not accusing anyone at this time of providing biased help, though I have seen it happen a number of times, but even in the way you all speak to the players, you can tell each GM is biased toward different players.  And I'll even be the first to admit that I've received my own sort of "special" treatment from GMs.  No, I will not name any names, but I know for a fact that it happens.

AP, you are right. A number of problems have been brought to my attention. First, it was noted that certain low amounts of experience gained were causing players trouble. This was fixed immediately upon report. Another problem was with low-levels where there is little movement necessary or even possible. This was also fixed immediately. There was also a few issues mentioned to me where the spawn (for higher levels) had limited movement and caused problems. I tested it with a player and was unable to duplicate the problem. Rather than ignore it, I took his word for it. I changed the script once more to be a little less sensitive (actually a lot less).

As far as your concern regarding the handling of Rastlin... Let me clear things up. First, I warped to each of his characters. None of them responded to me. I then decided to try messaging him in B-chat. This was because it was one place that no matter which character he was on, he would have the possibility of access to it. I then jailed each one of his characters (except the one that was not committing any offense). He never replied, not a word, not to any of it. Wouldn't you notice if you were in jail? He didn't reply then, he didn't reply minutes later, he never said a word. Pretty sure he was AFK. But even if he wasn't and just was enraged by my action causing him to freeze and take no action... He was simply warped to jail, a slap on the wrist, if you can call it that.

Finally, I do treat all players the same in terms of GM-action. Of course we have favorites or friends as well as players that may just flat-out not like us. But when I take action, when I see something I feel isn't right, I treat it the same. Remember when you used to like me? Remember when we used to chat a good bit? Remember how you were extremely pissed when I punished you for the actions you took? I don't need friends, I especially don't need friends that can't respect the position of GM. If you do something that you're not supposed to, I'm going to do what I feel is needed.

I know GMs have the ability to send a status message, though I don't know if it is possible to send one to a single character.  If so, perhaps a forced GM "tell", followed up with a status message or two that you have not received a response would be more appropriate and effective than s-chat and b-chat messages.
Yes, I would notice if you jailed me.  In fact, it happened in the not-so-distant past.  And yes, I was pissed about it because I was not AFK at the time, and promptly let my frustration be known in b.  You did warp me back out of jail, though I lost my pets in the process.  Pets that I had bought from other players because I don't have high enough taming to get them myself (but that's beside the point).  I should clarify here that I'm not defending anyone, they can do that for themselves.  I'm only arguing the experiences I've had and the suggestions I think would help prevent any confusion in the future.

As a person, I don't have a problem with you.  As a GM, I have the same problem with you that I have with the other GMs, which I've ranted plenty about in other posts.
I was pissed when you punished me because you came back, out of nowhere, after the other GMs had already stated that they would allow afk'ing simply because we were the only ones that even logged on anymore.  You came back and took a position in the game that you haven't held in years, and that should never have happened.  There is not a single thing in life, aside from Faldon apparently, that one can stop for years and years, and then just pick back up where they left off as though nothing has changed.  Even drug addicts and alcoholics take a few weeks to get back into the old groove of things.  So yes, I was pissed because Faldon had changed, and I had adjusted accordingly.  Then out of nowhere you showed up and, without any sort of notice to allow re-adjustment, starting taking action.

As for friends/favorites, GMs aren't supposed to have friends.  Yet again back to my main complaints with GMs.  Log your mortal if you want to have friends.  Playing GM, it's your responsibility to treat each player the same in all aspects of the game.  If you want to flirt with other players, or talk shit, or PK, or tell someone to fuck off, or in any other sense of the term have a relationship with the players, then do it on your mortal.

To be perfectly honest, I do miss our conversations, but a GM is the divide between the backend workings of the game and the player's experience.  If we had any Ms that played, I'd say GMs shouldn't even be thinking about jailing people or muting, because thats not your job.  However, when an employee doesn't show up to work, the manager has to take up the slack, right?

All of you readers are lucky.  I've forgotten where I was going with all of this and don't feel like reading back through to figure it out, so I'll leave this post at that.

For example, let's say we're talking about basic math.  2+2=4 type stuff.  I'm an accountant and you're a biologist.  I tell a third party to count on their fingers the numbers they are adding to get the total.  You tell them to instead make tick marks on a page and count them.  My opinion would be more valued, and the student more likely to count on their fingers, because I am active in mathematics.  You on the other hand, even though you had to take math classes to become a biologist, are not spending your days manipulating numbers, and therefore you're opinion means absolutely dick.  Even if, in that particular moment, you are right.

Sadly, I agree with you. I've always found it odd that GMs and Ms can come back after a long leave. I was always an advocate for removing the status from someone that has left. Now, depending on the reason for the leave, I do feel it should be easier to re-claim. But I don't believe it should be left available. It is best to monitor the person on return and find out their true interests. Things change after time and corruption becomes a higher risk.

Very well said.  It's obviously too late for any sort of implementation, with Zer's Houdini acts and all, but an M/GM should be logging on, at a minimum, once a week.  In my professional but unlicensed opinion, there should be an automatic ban of sorts on any M/GM character/account that hasn't been logged in over a week or 2.

I generally don't bother with things like this, but I have to say, Mumblee, that if you want to put your 2 cents in, perhaps you should try logging on a bit first.  Nobody gives a fuck about the opinion of someone that doesn't even participate in the events they're giving input on.

That was an awkward example, but I get what you're saying - that the maybe the means to do the job is different than it was in the past.  It's interesting that you picked arithmetic, though, because the additive property is fundamental, timeless, and immutable.  That's applies to some of the core concepts of being a GM, as well.  While some of their duties may have changed (for example, before Crovax and the return of Wu, GMs didn't really script), there are certain facets that simply do not (and should not) change.  Chief among those is that GMs should not use their powers for personal reasons, including retaliation for insult.  Basically, GMs don't have "friends" or "enemies", nor should they respond to taunting, insult, flirtation, bribery, etc.  I believe you made that point yourself.

So, while you're right that I have no idea what the state of the game is right now, my 2 cents (and my experience as a M/GM) still applies to the basics of being a GM.

It was a quick, off the top of my head example.  It may not have been the best, but it works ;p

Let me go ahead and add that I don't agree with anyone being muted/jailed/kicked/banned or receiving any other form of punishment for any sort of language or action taken against another player.  If you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen.  (On a side note, IMHO the in-game chat filter is about as retarded as the watcher).

Now, with that being said, I have to make this argument for arguments sake.  At one time we had Mods and Chat Mods, but none of them log on anymore (and the only CM I'm aware of that do log on just doesn't care anymore).    I made the comment in a previous message that "when an employee doesn't show up to work, the manager has to take up the slack", and it appears as though that is exactly what Tim has done.  Not only is he trying to hold the role of a Gamemaster, but also that of a Moderator.  As a GM, kicking a player for being rude to you is wrong.  As a moderator, muting/kicking a player for deliberately bypassing chat filter and demeaning others is an action that has been taken for many years now.  Well, with the exception of the time period in which the only GMs that logged on quit doing their jobs, and no Ms logged on at all.

Since you agree that you are unfamiliar with the current state of the game, this brings me back to the original point regarding your input.  Until you take the time to re-acquaint yourself with the Faldon environment, your past M/GM experience means absolutely nothing, and you are in no position to say what actions are appropriate or inappropriate.

For whatever reason, I missed this line my first time reading through all this...

I've not seen him talk shit about any GMs...  Granted I spend the majority of my time either in inventory or afk, so I don't see all the chat, but the only comments I've seen him make toward any M/GM can be verified and therefore considered fact.  wink

About the char I afked on - it wasnt even mine.  It was only one afk and, yes, Tim warped it to jail along with other chars that weren't even doing anything.  We can't help it that nobody likes you (and never will).  I hope you get jailed just for a login;  Really, you deserve it more then anyone. big_smile
