Topic: Spellbook acquisition rework.
I’d like to suggest two changes to make it easier for new players to advance as mages. Right now, it feels like there’s a major barrier due to heavy reliance on RNG from vendors or the limited availability of spellbooks from older players who gathered them over time. While I’m aware of the trainer and have used it to level up and learn basic spells, my suggestions are intended to improve progression beyond that point.
Suggestion 1: Mobs that know a spell should have a chance to drop a spellbook for that spell, with a level equal to or lower than their own rank in it. For example, if a Green Dragon can use level 10 Lightning and level 10 Poison Cloud, it could drop a Lightning spellbook of any level up to 10. Meanwhile, an undead shaman who knows level 1 Fireball would only drop a level 1 Fireball spellbook.
This change would allow players to farm spellbooks from a range of different mobs, which leads into the next suggestion.
Suggestion 2: Scribes could combine two of the same spellbooks with the same level to create a higher-level spellbook, with a chance for success. For instance, combining two level 5 Fireball spellbooks would have a chance of producing a level 6 Fireball book. At higher levels of scribing, this combination could become guaranteed.
This system would provide additional use for lower-tier spellbooks and create a smoother progression path for both new and experienced players as they seek to improve their spells and spell levels.
