Topic: Require enter key to start typing in chat.

This is awful to play without. this change is simple and will allow for wasd gameplay if you let us.

if its really so much of a change for old player make it a toggle in preferences. just about every other mmo ive played does it this way so please add the option or change it totally.

im really tired of dying because i accidentally hit a letter key when trying to shift sprint away from mobs.

The problem is the enter button is used for many functions like picking up loot and going through portals to name a few, and this is relatively handy given its proximity to the arrow buttons.

I'd suggest making it so you have to physically click on the chat box or making it so when you fully fold down the chat box, you can no longer type in it.

Could simply use another key for enter's function though. That's the beauty of remapping controls. The Q, or E key are so close to WASD as arrow keys, it would be a natural choice to replace the pickup/activate function.

It's rare that I agree with the "everyone else is doing it" reasoning, but it's standard now for computer games to have these common keyboard functions. It just becomes intuitive. Currently it's a bit odd and even uncomfortable using the arrow keys & chat input on by default.

I will die on this hill lol  big_smile

I guess the goldilocks solution is to have all (or most) controls mappable. Although my main gripe with the new GUI vs the old one is I did enjoy simply not having the chat tab on top and it was completely gone.

There was something.... peaceful? about having the chat buried somewhere in a stack of tabs. It reminds me of when my Grandpa would get home from a long days work, he would unplug the phone from the wall so he didn't have to worry about ringing and bugging him.

In an ideal world for me, the chat box would open if you click it, otherwise, its just waiting to be clicked like the rest of the tabs. Not constantly active regardless of folded down or not.
