[ Closed ] Worst Car Trouble EVER

That really blows, but I can relate. I might have told you the following story, but about a months ago. . . :

I was coming home from work. I was in bumper to bumper traffic, and switching between first and second gear constantly- not to mention braking. So, after a bit of this I go to push down on the clutch and I hear a loud "snap". Not sure what it was, my best guess was that I had just snapped the clutch pedal itself. Then I looked down I realized I hadn't. But at this point I was merely coasting, so I couldn't figure out the problem (or pull over).

Soon I realized that my clutch wasn't working at all. I later realized that the cable had snapped. So, I am going about 5 MPH, in traffic, and I cannot switch out of neutral. So I aim my car in the direction of the shoulder and coasted as far as I could.

Now, you have to understand this is rush hour traffic, but we are on a little, ONE lane road, which a lot of people (like myself) use as a detour.

So my bus is completely still in the road, and I am holding up about 500 people. Talk about embrassing. I mean, they couldn't even get around me.

So, I jump out and push it to the side (as much as I could). It still stuck out in the road a fair bit.

Oh yes, and it is pouring down rain. Welcome to Washington.

So, I craw back inside, and grab my cell phone. I go to turn it on, and nothing happens. The batteries had died. Just my luck.

At this point, I wasn't upset- I was just in total concentration. I knew the emotion would come later.

So, I throw up my coat, and realize I am about to go on an adventure.

I am 40 miles form my home, in unfamiliar territory, and it's raining like crazy, and getting dark.

I proceeded to walk a long the road, and knock on the doors of all the apartments and what not. No one was home. About 15 minutes later I found a guy at his house. To my luck, he allowed me to use his phone. I was able to reach my dad, and he agreed to come pick me up.

30 minutes later, waiting inside of my bus, my dad showed up.

He decided that he didn't want to pay for towing, and since I was broke at the time, I had no say.

He decided to buy a tow-strap, and tow me home. . .

So we went and bought one, and another 30 minutes later got back to my car. And he towed me. It was the scariest shit I have ever done. Tied, 10 feet behind a gold Subaru Forester- going 50 MPH on the highway. Yes, my father is insane. As you can imagine, it didn't go "perfectly smooth".

Now, my brakes were bad. Very bad, But they worked, I just needed to get them replaced (when I had the cash).

I was forced to ride the brakes all the way to the my mechanic, and ended up totally destroying them.

When we arrived at the mechanics, I got out and realized my front bumper had been destroyed by the ride home.

By this point, I was void of all emotion. I was like a robot- I just wanted to go home and sleep.

Anyway, that night, I destroyed my clutch, brakes, and bumper.

Also, I was carless. And two weeks later i got a bill that I couldn't afford, for $1100.

Life is peachy.

The worst part was being toed. It was absolutely terrifying. Oh yeah! Turns out my insurance pays for towing. Go fucking figure.
