Topic: God is great, or God is foul.

I decided to do a new kind of post. One more on topic
with General Discussion. However, I would like to ask
one thing, for this post, GOD EXISTS. This is not a post
about whether or not he exists, so please, again, for
the duration of this post, HE DOES EXIST.

God the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and Earth.
People say god is all controling. The people who say
this are normally strong believers and worshippers of
him. So if you win the lottery you thank God. If your
loved one dies, you cry, blame the drunk driver, and
thank God for taking him to a better place. My question
is, is God good? Or is he a little kid playing games. Creating
people only to torture them. He created us, created disease,
then ... After many people die of the disease, creates a cure.
And a new problem for us. God created fire, and man was
joyous. Their homes burned down, and they hate the smokers.
Enough out of me, I want to hear more of what other people
say.

Warstallion again, GOD EXISTS for the sake of this
post. It is not about whether or not God exists. It
is about whether or not the God that people worship
is good or evil. It's more of a question of, if God was
real, and all that was said about him (The Christian god)
would he be worth worshipping?

That all depends on how instrumental god is on our everyday life, is he responsible and the soul creator of all our actions? or did he create the universe, create planet earth and all that is on it including us and then said fuck it, do what you like?
Taking the first option i'd say he is evil as he deliberately puts people through pain and suffering for his own gratification.
Taking the latter option God isn't necessarily evil, he is just the creator of life. Whether he is evil or not would depend upon his motives for doing so.
Did he create life so he being the all power all knowing creature that he is could smile down as we ignorant powerless buffoons could be his entertainment? Or did he create life because of some other motive that i can't think of?
Taking the first option i gave, he is evil or perhaps i'm quite mistaken in that i only believe he is evil because i don't like my life
Taking the latter option, it's unknown.

To conclude, it seems more likely that God is evil.  wink

I think that God is all-good, all-loving AND all-powerful and all knowing, and that the evil in our world exists for a purpose, not just because God missed a spot or because there's a loose seam somewhere. Everyone equates the whole matter of good and evil to be good vs. evil, like it's some sort of battle between opposing deities, Satan representing evil, obviously. Wrong. This isn't a fight for power or a desperate struggle. God could just stop thinking about Satan and he would cease to be. So: Why does evil exist? Because God wants it to. Because without evil there could be no free choice. If your only choices are good and good, you don't HAVE a choice. You need options to have choices, and you need evil to have a full range of options. Evil preserves our free will, and that's how much God loves us. Enough that he would give us the choice to turn our backs on him, to kill our best friends and brutalize strangers. Think about it: God created the world, right? So then why, if he wants us to love him, wouldn't he just make us love him? It's certainly within his power to just make all the world love him utterly. But he doesn't, and to me that shows that God loves us more than we could ever hope to understand. Life is not a test or game designed by God. This is not life (beta). This is real.
