So yea, I recently purchased webhosting services with dreamhost. (Less than 2 bucks a month (using promocode) for 20 GB space and 1 TB monthly bandwidth was an offer I couldn't refuse.) So Im browsing through the control panel seeing all the goodies and spiffy stuff they offer and support etc.

I come upon a page named 'Dreamhost Donations' which is basically a way for visitors of your site to donate directly towards your next bill with Dreamhost... well look at what it says:

Just fill out this quick form and we'll give you some html code to paste into your website that allows any site visitor to make a donation via paypal towards your bill with us!
This is way easier than them buying you a gift certificate, and is more appealing to some visitors because they know their money is going to pay your hosting bill and not being blown on your embarasssing pokemon habit!

HOW DID THEY KNOW?! :shock:

Adult-related sites of any kind may NOT use DreamHost Donations!

Barring ESP, Dreamhost must be watching me through some spycam

Beh, Dreamhost, I might check it out. Crov, what is this Promocode thing which makes it 2$ per month? Just curious :shock:

I'm assuming that if I sign up for this under your promocode or whatever you get discount or something like that, and I do as well for signing up?

For 1 year hosting (20 GB disk, 1 TB monthly BW) their price is $120. ($10 per month)

If you sign up regularly and mention 'Crovax' referred you, I will get $97.

However with 'promocodes' I can also decide to give part of that $97 as a discount to the user signing up.

So basically you wanna use a code that gives you the full $97 in discounts =P

CROVAX95 gives you $95 and me $2
CROVAX97 gives you the full $97 discount

(afaik I wont get anything if you'd use CROVAX97, but ah well... I used a similar code myself (you could just google and find a bunch of full-discount codes so I'd be lame to try and trick you))

So anyhow, if you use CROVAX97 you get 120-97 for a grand total of $23 for 1 year's hosting. (Needs to be paid up-front though... oh and they do accept paypal)

Anyhow, in case anyone is wondering NO they arent paying or employing me to advertise for them, lol... just that I was quite surprised to find such big wallops of bandwidth so cheap, and hadnt heard of them ebfore so figured Id share it. ^^ (Though the pokemon-habit coincidence is the real reason I started the thread in the first place, haha... that was freaky.)

lol.... yea selling SBs for $2 a pop does seem like a chance I cant miss.

Anyhow, I would suggest you take this opportunity to do what is right, rational, proper and realistic in this world... take the 97. The world belongs to those who act purely in their self-interest. =P
