Topic: Scribing inprovements

I and all the other players that use scribery/are trying to raise it agree that books should be stackable because we have to run all over the place, waste countless amount of bank/mail space,  and a blank book npc in mid would be AMAZING so we dont gotta go all the way to nubby val ; (

Meh, the problem is that books have durability so you can't stack a 4/5 book with a 5/5 book of the same spell and I don't think it'd be desirable to have multiple stacks of the same book but with different durabilities.

Also, having them unstackable makes the skill harder and worth something, now, even with a stack of 5mil gp it takes time and effort to raise scribery. If they're stackable then someone could just go buy like 100k blank books and an assload of cheap spells to scribe which obviously makes it a whole lot easier.

yeah but couldnt you just mkae the id be for a 4/5 book be different the other durabilities so it stacks differently? sure you could do that and i understand what you mean, but it is lame running all over the place to get supplies and all the wasted bank space

Storage space is an ongoing problem in just about ever MMO on the market.  As time goes on, there just never seems to be enough room to hold all your goodies.  While the obvious solution would be to add more space, it ends up becoming a strain on the server resources.

In this game, it's not so much of an issue since there seems to be plenty of server space for everyone due to the lack of players.  However, it could potentially become an issue if more players do start finding their way to Faldon.

Personally, given the fact that multilogging on the same account is possible and the mail system is free for C accounts, I think actual bank space is fine.  However, I have to agree that inventory space is just too small compared to the size of certain items.  I think it's time to move away from the tetris style puzzling of inventory items and stick to a standardization of all inventory items to take up one unit in an inventory.  I can understand the need for limited inventory size to encourage the player to go back to town every now and again, but I find my inventory full after getting just a few vendor trash drops while leveling on dragons.

A lot of developers have added a greater level of item stacking in order to solve the bag space problem.  This makes it easier on the server storage and allows players to be happy at the same time.  For scribing, it 100% agree that in the next client, books should be made stackable and be converted to resource items like ores and lumber(which would remove the needless durability on blank books).

Scribing is right where it needs to be. It still raises faster than most skills even with the difficulty of its existence now. Just costs a lot big_smile. Took me 3 hours for 82-110 and another 3 hours for 110-135. That is not bad IMO for a skill.

yeah, its just annoying to run around and always riun out of the bank space, dont care about the cost, if blanks were even stackable that would be amazing

Well getting a citizen account what, doubles your bank? not all that big of a banking advantage tongue. Making banks bigger wouldn't be a signifigant strain on server resources..

When you have a full server of people, you'd be surprised how many resources get eaten up by a large amount of item management at once.  Things like this can cause serverwide lag.  In fact, it's the sole reason for limited item space in most MMOs.  You're probably right in this case though since there's much less data tied to items in Faldon than most commercial MMOs.

Re: Scribing inprovements

why not add a way for players to buy extra bank space?   you wanna get rid of duped gold?

Re: Scribing inprovements

Yep, You should add extra bank space. Maybe an idea to be able to buy extra bank space with USD? Extra upgrades to accounts.

Re: Scribing inprovements

it would be good if you could make the last/bottom line of bank space useable.
At the moment it just shows blank/empty squares that you cant place anything in.
Get rid of them or make them useable!  smile  please
