Topic: Please explain something to me...

So i didnt know its against the rules to log another character and talk on it? i got muted of forest for a racial slur, muff muted me then 2 mins later juza did. i logged chip and said stop muting me over and over and juza muted me and said its against the rules to log another character and talk on it while im muted on another. I logged google to ask if it was and he muted me.

Chat mods cant see if someone has been muted or warned already so double mutes and warns in quick succession can happen. Juza probably just noticed it a little later than muff.

I guess it would depend on why you were muted and what you say on the other character, it could be considered mute avoidance.

no no this is what i said "alright ive already been muted once now stop muting me over and over" i never said it twice, i never had a chance to...

Forest, think of it this way:

It was you who said whatever it is you said to get muted, not your character.  Therefore it makes sense that you as a person are the one getting your chat privs revoked for that period of time, regardless of what character you are logging.

Well im not trying to make this blown out of proportion i just dont think its right when GMs/Ms have NEVER enforced this rule before. Maybe we need a more detailed list of rules for chat moderation

A simple solution would be to have the mutes tried to an IP address. 

Honestly, if you're getting muted and then logging to another character to press the issue with the Mod in the broadcast channel, you shouldn't be surprised when there are consequences.  I personally think that it's time to put a stop to the players attempting to circumvent the rules and then playing dumb and complaining when they don't get away with it.

Hmm. I could add something that tells a moderator if another moderator has done a mute, so as to prevent many mutes for one issue.

I'd like that too, would eliminate the problem of people logging alternate chars to continue their behaviour after they've been muted.

That's not entirely true, but I think the point he's making is about setting and sticking to precedent, which seems like a reasonable request.

The reason I was saying his claim was "not entirely true" is because we did enforce it in the past, but that probably faded away once Lothar became the only really active Gm and couldn't actively police on top of his other Gm duties.
