Topic: Chat Mod Barbie Abuse of powers screen proofs

Here is the thing. Barbie a chat mod was getting onto others about speaking other languages. That is no problem. However, Barbie herself does not speak English so how can she fault others?

A short quote  " I no you no how to speak enlgish" <-- Came straight from Barbies mouth. What language is that? It looks like English but I have no idea what it means. Now I myself do not claim to speak English. I am from the good old USofA. Yet I do not chastise others for there language skills. I pointed out to Barbie that she is not even speaking English and what she is speaking is barely recognized as English. Her response was to mute me because she did not agree with me.

Now I broke no rules so had no reason to mute me. My mastery of the English language while not perfect puts Barbie to shame so  she can not say it was because I was not speaking English. I just do not understand how she can mute people without muting herself.

I agree on the rule only English in the game that is not a problem but the person judging people should be mature and have some knowledge of the English language. Not at once did I curse nor did I speak any language but English nor used any racial slurs.

I have talked to Barbie Girl and looked over the chat logs to see the entire conversation that lead up to this.

You just happened to push her at the wrong time. She had just muted Mata_rindo and then you decided to undermine her authority by picking on her English. It is true her English isn't that good but that's because she's dyslexic.

She does a fine job as a chat moderator, the only thing that got you muted was your timing, if you said what you said in a different context then you would not have been muted.

That's a terrible reason, Mr Spy.

"Undermining the authority" of a Gm/M/whatever is not reason for punishment.  It has never been a good reason (and has almost always been a key argument of corrupt Gms).  You're pretty much citing the basic tenet of a fascist dictatorship.  Simply put, if you don't like being criticized, don't ask for (or accept) a position of authority.

Ignoring the fact that internet slang is NOT dyslexia (and I would imagine it is insulting to people who have dyslexia make that implication), he had a perfectly good point.  If you are enforcing some sort of Draconian "English-only" policy (which is a whole other issue), then people with the power to enact that enforcement should be held minimally to the same standard.

For all I know this guy Vladious is a huge dick, maybe even the new Royal Pain;  however, this is a pretty clear-cut situation in which he is right and Barbie abused her power.

that doesn't really show it mumblee, but she really IS dyslexic you would have to play the game and see her talk more to know that for a fact, everything else aside that is.

Uhm... No offence meant, but isn't Barbie around 12 years old?  When has it ever been a good idea to give someone of that age any power?
I thought the lesson was learned from that young GM whose name slips my mind... the one who made that bridge.

Yeah, I'm not trying to say she isn't dyslexic - I don't know anything about her.  I'm just saying that you can't invoke a "dyslexia" defense of what she was doing, because the guy was criticizing her internet slang and not her dyslexia.

That said, even if he WAS explicitly targeting her BECAUSE of her condition, even if he was purposely trying to push her buttons, even if he he wasn't pointing out a blatant contradiction in policy, that STILL isn't reason to mute him.  Mute power is not meant to censor or quiet people because they are insulting you (as the person with power) or because you don't like what they're saying.  That's what "ignore" is for.  The ability to mute exists because there are players in game who will try to ruin broadcast for everyone with their spam, racism, etc.

As a moderator you need to be able to brush off all the garbage that's going to be directed at you as a result of being in a position of authority.  Reacting to it by muting is a clear and blatant abuse of power.

We are allowed to mute for harassment, but that is of course if it is repeatedly being bothered for no reason, not for playful banter or mutual arguing and insulting.

Mumblee if you were still gm you would beable 2 look at chat logs see that it was said more than what his ss shows.

Okay first things first. DON'T believe any of the screenshots put on this website they are COMPLETELY out of context.
Second of all authority figures if you can remember can't mute people therefore meaning Barbie Girl didn't really have a choice. Also, her being young means nothing. It's not like if you say you’re dumb that she's going to mute you. She's mature she gives you the warnings etc. Also I'm sorry but I thought that if you were in a sense getting "verbally" harassed on Faldon that you would infact get muted. Just a thought.

Now you're invoking the same argument that Royal Pain does, Barbie - saying that because I no longer play, my arguments are somehow less logical.

The point is - a Gm or M isn't immune from being made fun of.  It doesn't matter whether they are having a bad day, or whether multiple people are making fun of them, or what.  If the person wasn't breaking the ToS, you shouldn't have muted them.

i wasnt there,, but harassment is harassment, doesnt matter if its player on player,, or player on cmod/gm/m.. if its harassing its mutable.. of course we have to tolerate a certain level of it as it comes with the position, but we have to draw a line somewhere. repeat offenders especially receive no tolerance from me.

I can see from the way in which you speak that you have some education behind you. *cruel joke* I live in America here there is no way a child could be considered an authority figure. Perhaps MAYBE if that child was from a very wealthy family and that family had servants then maybe she could be considered an authority figure.
