Topic: Regards to advertising Faldon and buying text links....

First off I would just like to say "SERIOUSLY buying text links????? That is a big very big money trap can this game really afford a money trap? About the worst marketing move ever. Now with that said allow me to develop a more simple marketing plan.

Web 2.0 There is plenty of web 2.0 sites out there  among them are Squidoo, Hubpages, Blogger and of coarse my favorite Wordpress. You will need to create some nice feature rich articles and screen shots and maybe try to target some low hanging keywords. *Note: Low hanging keywords  I am referring to keywords that get a lot of traffic but would be easy to rank for. So you will have to get some keyword research done. For keyword research I recommend either Market Samurai or SEnuke. Now yes these software do cost but once again beats paying for text links all the time. Now with SEnuke that will help you to create properties on web 2.0 properties so will save you some time.

Now this is a social game. So why not promote it socially? Twitter , Facebook and myspace. To be fair your best chances of traffic and players will be one Facebook. With Facebook it would be easy to get 1k users a day with the greatest of ease. Here is an example of how to grab the traffic from facebook create a fan page for Faldon then you want to buy postings on large groups and fan pages walls. I am talking about 800k plus groups and fan pages. With this while yes will cost you money will bring in well over 5k visitors within a day or more. If it goes viral there would even be the possibility of it crashing the server due to load.

Do not forget about special gaming bookmark pages like n4g I get 300 visits a day on one of my game sites from that site alone.

There is also article directories and so on and so forth as well.

Here is the big picture once everything is set up you will not have to touch it again. You should really think about hiring an internet marketer for this venture. Yes they are not cheap but you are paying a flat cost then it is done and over with.

Just a suggestion.

Another suggestion that might help.

A new way to monotize games was developed by the Koreans called microprocessing. We have all seen it in games but it was started first by the Koreans. what this is is you pay for items  usually cosmetic or beneficial token s like double exp or other via a one time payment. This might be something that Faldon may want to look into.

Another tip and suggestion would be to make a player marketplace. Outside of the game. I know of a game that is doing this right now. What it does is allow players to sell there item outside of game and then  use that money to pay for game/time stat resets or whatever else they so desire. This will cut down on fraud 10 fold. As then Faldon can actively monitor fraud and make the game more secure. Which makes for a funner game overall.

Just a hint/tip suggestion.

Now considering this is a Free 2 Play game. Here is YET another suggestion there is a company I use called CPAlead they have an api that allows your users to complete survey in return for credits. Then it will give a callback to your site notifying you that the user created said surveys. Why not add that as an option so you can monotize the people who can not afford to upgrade. Getting a check every month from users completing surveys for in game credits so they can have C sure beats no check at all.

Also why not make users see ads in game. Sponsor ads as well why not make money off those free users?

There is some things that really need to be looked over. If I had the time I would sit down and help you to create a more targeted marketing plan and  help with the future development of said plan. However for me time= money and the thing I like about Faldon is the windowed+ Alt Tab you can do so I can both work and play at the same time.

Edit once again: Another thing I recommend is a short video landing page. Something that is visually pleasing. Then direct the traffic to there. Really nothing more then graphics and a video a graphical title and description. An account creation tool and download button. The main website looks like it is stuck in the 90's that might be a little offish for some.

On another note, you seem to recognize that Faldon is a rough gem, its got quite a bit of unlocked potential.

You bet I do. When I look at Faldon is the way an investor looks at a new start up stock with great potential. While Faldon is not start up stock. I still see great potential. However I do feel with a limited budget it would be hard to reach it's full potential. As you said though  you fine gents are waiting for the new client. that is all fine and dandy but when is the new client going to be out? Most games start marketing well before a year of final release date.

I do understand that Faldon is not most games. It is not  PWI or WOW or even UO for that matter. Actually I take that back it does share some similarity with UO the open ended char development. That is something rare in today's genre of games. Something I myself if I where to finance a game *which eventually I do plan on* would  have in the development. As I do not believe that a char should be limited to a set  skills based on  a class they choose when starting. UO made it so you could even change your class though it would be hard through  just using skills much the same way as Faldon does and considering UO was the first game I played I have always looked for similar games.

Another thing i like is the graphics. I first started playing RPG's when I was a kid the very first FF *Final Fantasy* series and the very first DW *Dragon Warrior* game. Heck I even played the ORIGINAL Ultima. The thing they had in common was  Sh177y graphics. Another thing they had in common was addicting game play. yet over the years as the graphics improved game play got worse and worse and they made it seems a decision to dumb down the game play for better graphics. This is where we are at today and games and Faldon brings a breath of fresh air.

However I see a lot of things that in order for this game to advance to the next level that needs to be done.

Me too smile, and at this point its just working on it one day at a time. Faldon has come quite a long way slow, but steadily.

In some ways Wu I miss the old Faldon. I miss my Of lost souls. I miss of the dead which would put all your stam to int. I miss the of ancient wisdom which meant your item would be indes. I miss my mirrored Katana which as long as I stayed Zerked it would never loose Dura.

Vladious, your post is like 50% used car salesman and 50% "Intro to SEO".

You're right about one thing, though - Katana of Mirroring WAS great.

I do SEO work for businesses. So you would be correct in that assumption. However I never sold a car in my life. Yet I have sold numerous things as marketing is my job as well. I actually went to school for marketing. Then found out that everything I ever needed or wanted to know could be found quicker and easier online as well as all the latest marketing strategies they do not teach you in school. So fool move on my part there. Live and learn I recon.

That's true of most professions, though.
