Topic: 2024/10/24 Update

October 24, 2024:
Put in Master Wu's 4K art update! This improves the Bastion and many common pieces of scenery!
Added the "Bot" flag. Holy Aura will not work on bots for 7 times 7 Faldon days, and neither will Teleport.
Added "High Focus" and "Private" play modes to Parental Controls. These features will be expanded in the future.
Characters who are idle or in areas guarded against physical attacks are now passable.
Custom-named items being sold on the market did not show their custom name.
- Thanks to Mr Spy for reporting this bug!
Fixed a lockup if two people tried to purchase the same item from the market.
Fixed the Criminal flag not always showing.
If a monster is stuck for a full hour, it will now warp back to its spawn point.
Items in certain parts of inventory never dropped on death. The loss was meant to be random.
- Thanks to iMouse for reporting this bug!
Items on the market now show who the seller is.
NPCs will no longer give away the presence of hidden GMs.
Pickpocket's "Criminal" time could previously be reduced by attacking a player. This is now fixed.
Pickpocket's "recently robbed someone" time has been increased.
Player hit messages now use the same colored status messages as monster hits.
Removed the client-side 7,000,000 quantity limit. (There is still a server-side 8,000,000 quantity limit.)
Trying to stack more than 8,000,000 items now causes "inventory full" messages in many cases where previously some items would be lost.
- Thanks to Master Wu for reporting this bug!

Re: 2024/10/24 Update

The Bot thing seems to have targeted only a small group of players (3 players to be accurate). Because the bot seller who had the most part of afkers as customers never used Teleport on his bot, it's always been Autokill + Autowalk through spawns, so this update disabled botting for 3 people, but still allow around 10 people or so to stay afk leveling. Now they will own all their current spawns plus the few spawns that were occupied by the 3 people who can't afk anymore.

I thought that you would have taken a better decision when you posted that Bots topic. Or leave it as it was or block everything.

Re: 2024/10/24 Update

The Teleport restriction was a last-minute addition to this week's patch based on a video I saw. In the video it was clear the macroer could easily monopolize an entire spawn area -- Teleport in, kill a monster, Teleport right back out. Any player who would kill the monster with difficulty -- say, a beginner -- would not have a chance to even do it with such drive-by macro leveling. That's not fair so it definitely had to stop, and in the case of Teleport it's an easily coded restriction.

Whatever a decision may be, there's a lag time between "make a decision" and "have code for it" smile There's a lot I'd like to do that I haven't had time to code yet.

Well, that's the problem of using videos sent to you from players as reference. What if there are 2 bot sellers in the game and one of them send a video to you to fulfil his interests? That's not good.
As I said, the bot with most users currently uses Auto walk, it's the same result as the teleporting one: monopolizing an entire spawn and not leaving a chance to beginners, to be honest it's even better than the teleporting one, because you don't need to have so much magic and waste your mana with teleport.

Yeah, I know it requires time and you need time to code a better solution. Sorry for the way I expressed my words above, I didnt mean to be rude or something like that. I only wanted to make sure you're aware that the biggest problem here isn't teleporting around spawns.

Re: 2024/10/24 Update

Someone in game was asking about the Bot flag and what the "7 times 7" means? Can you elaborate on how that works. Thank you, and thanks for making attempts to solve some of the issues going on.

Re: 2024/10/24 Update

If bot activity is detected during a session, it marks the character.
That character is marked "Bot" until 49 Faldon days (a little under 2 days) after that session ends (logoff).

Thank you for this explanation. I wasn't sure it was this simple, or I was missing something.  smile

I think you’re missing the bigger picture here. Teleporting for bots was disabled because, frankly, it was overpowered.

While it may have technically impacted "three" people, each of them was running about five accounts, monopolizing roughly 15 spawns—just as Zer put it. Now, the spawns are wide open; you can take your pick from Feline Cave, Winter Walks, Desert Tigers, Gold Coin Cave, Bengal Beach, Beach Cave—the places previously dominated by teleport bots are now free. His update created a solid balance: it reduced bots’ dominance without banning them outright.

I’d say he handled this delicate situation with impressive finesse, and it seems others agree. The ‘bot’ label? Pure brilliance. It’s a clever touch to mark those inclined to bot.

It's incredibly funny how it took you almost 2 days to think of an answer for that lol. Anyway, an answer like this from the bot seller that wasn't affected by the update is not valid, it's only laughable. Your bot was literally untouched and it has the same impact as teleporting, the difference is you don't need to waste mana (that means it is better, also I forgot to say the user can set a new auto path to any spawn they want in seconds). As James said, the bot flag and teleport thing was an emergency with the scarce time he had a few minutes before this week update, so stop the flattery. Enjoy your bot while you can. It's comical, not to say tragic, you replying to my comment while you're running your bot monopolizing the Haggy event and your customers monopolizing their spawns.

I forgot to mention that a better solution that would block your auto path and other features isn't as easy and quick as blocking tagged players to cast Teleport, that's the only reason James only blocked Teleport for now. Don't think you're safe, mate.

I only came across your post yesterday. Look, Supla, I appreciate the passionate response, but I think you’re missing a few fundamentals here. Firstly, calling me a ‘bot seller’ is honestly amusing, especially considering the time and effort I’ve put in versus the nominal token I’ve earned. In three months, I’ve made about what you’d charge for a single one of your scripts. If profit were the goal, I’d simply charge your rates—or better yet, focus on real contracting work and make ten times as much. For me, it’s about the community, the product, and the joy of developing this kind of app—it’s not a cash grab. Ironically, it seems the only person truly monetizing scripts in this game is you. And I’d wager my development hours on this project far surpass yours.

Regarding monopolizing spawns, I’d encourage you to take a closer look around before jumping to conclusions. Teleport-only bots had indeed been occupying those areas, but since the update, spawns like Feline Cave, Bengal Beach, and others are wide open. James clearly aimed not to remove bots altogether but to strike a balance, ensuring responsible botters can coexist with casual players—a thoughtful approach to fairness in the game.

You keep coming back to how this update impacts your bots and the inconveniences you’re facing. Frankly, it feels like you’re framing personal frustration as a public service, but let’s be honest: it sounds like a plea for special treatment because your bot no longer works as you’d like. The rest of us have adapted and moved on, and none of us feel the need to rail against it.

Anyway, I won’t respond further, so feel free to have the last word.

One other thing to note, James: I believe anyone using the 'old client' doesn’t get flagged, so that might be worth looking into.
