Topic: The Art of Mining, Woodcutting, & Fishing (Wu & James)
This post is mostly for Wu and James. Feel free to chime in however.
I want to suggest there being variable art for Mining and Woodcutting. Why not fishing? Well fishing already has this feature. When you clear an area for fishing, the fish jumping animation stops. Now this fishing animation could be improved, and honestly, I have yet to think how you could do it.
For Woodcutting, I suggest 5 phases. These phases would have either a flag(in background/Database) saying if a player touched it, in the last materials renewal update(last 48 min or faldon day, etc).
1. No wood remaining: Art simply turns into a Stump.
2. Partially cut wood: Maybe a full tree laying on the ground. (Given touched by player flag and was full sized.)
3. Not touched young tree 1-10 logs: Small tree about 1/3 size. (no flag)
4. Not touched adult tree 11-25 logs: tree 2/3 size (no flag).
5. Fully grown tree 26+ logs: (no flag).
For Mining, I would prefer to see this evolve. That also includes art such as walls, and even ore nodes in certain parts that may have more in them. Maybe this skill can be vastly expanded on in the future. However, for the time being:
1. Empty node art: Missing ore veins
2. Less than full, but more than empty: half ore veins
3. Full: Full ore veins
These items could vastly be improved on from my suggestion. But it would help with immersion of a more living world. I would not limit it to my ideas specifically, as I think there can be some cool expansions to all of these skills.
However, encouraging a go ahead and a plan of action, this would give a cool update that would have be worked on by both Wu and James. So it would require a sign off to make the work worth it then commitment to code and place it into the game.
I would love to submit more improvements on these skills, but I feel a one step at a time approach, and I am glad to bring things up later. Thank you for all the hard work.
